One Voice Arkansas is proud to announce that the organization has been officially recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity, with exemption effective August 10, 2025 . This designation marks a significant step in advancing the organization’s mission to raise awareness of Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and support families across the state.
Founded by sisters Audra Pettus and Brigette Waits-Garcia, One Voice Arkansas was born from a personal journey—one that began with questions, uncertainty, and ultimately, a diagnosis of CAS for Audra’s daughter, Rowen. As the family searched for answers, they discovered how limited the public understanding of CAS is and how isolating the journey can be. Their experience inspired a vision: to ensure no family walks this path alone.
With its new tax-exempt status, One Voice Arkansas will expand:
Community hubs and outreach programs statewide
Educational resources and family support initiatives
Advocacy efforts promoting early diagnosis and access to trained SLPs
Partnerships with schools, providers, and community organizations
“Our mission is simple but profound,” said Co-Founder & President Audra Pettus. “Every child deserves to be heard. This determination strengthens our ability to empower families, build compassionate communities, and advocate for children with CAS.”
One Voice Arkansas invites families, educators, providers, and community members to join the movement. To learn more or get involved, visit www.onevoicearkansas.com.
