1 in 1000
Here is where we proudly feature children from across Arkansas who are living with Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
We call them our 1 in 1,000 — not just because of the rarity of the diagnosis, but because of the courage, determination, and spirit each child shows in their journey to be understood.
Each story is a reminder that even rare conditions deserve bold advocacy — and that with the right support, every child can find their voice.

Ava Sanders: A Journey of Hope and Advocacy for Childhood Apraxia of Speech
Diagnosed with Childhood Apraxia of Speech just before her third birthday, Ava Sanders has worked tirelessly to find her voice. Now 16, Ava is thriving as a junior board member for One Voice Arkansas. Through consistent speech therapy, family advocacy, and perseverance, she graduated from speech services in second grade and now leads with confidence, passion, and hope—showing what’s possible for kids growing up with CAS.
